Vuuch is a start‐up run by executives who are passionate about the value that social media and community can bring to PLM. They noticed that design discussions were disconnected from their respective products while organizational charts told nothing about how people are connected during the design process. |
VuuchDesignDiscussionsis a software solution that improves time‐to‐market by connecting design teams, design discussions and design deliverables in a way that is natural to how designers already work today. AMC was asked to integrate this solution withSolidWorks. |

Software Description:
Imagine you are working on a design of a new piston and you need to have a discussion on some aspect of the design. You right‐click on the appropriate feature and type your message, invite people and hit send. The complete discussion is now organized around the product and is available through a file or the selected feature.mation, and bending. It is of use to estimators, engineers, account managers and tool and die designers.
Vuuch allows for two types of design discussions: private and public. While working with Vuuch, the user captures more than discussions, she gains a complete understanding of how her team is related to her product.
Mainfeatures of SolidWorks integrated Vuuch include:
• Ability to start a discussion for a particular part of or the whole model
• Prompting the user to create a title for the discussion
• Sharing the discussion with one or more members of the team
• Adding an attachment
• Posting a reply
• Automatic notification within SolidWorks or via email that a discussion was started or updated
• Storing a discussion in an external database
• Previously created discussions can be attached to different models
Results:
AMC provided SysCAM with a fully functioning plug‐in that enabled the company to penetrate SolidWorks customers’ market. If SysCAM had decided to implement the project internally, they would have encountered a number of challenges associated with lack of API expertise. Outsourcing the project to AMC significantly reduced their time‐to‐market while providing them with top‐quality integration work.
